Mixed Media-II

Few days back I was reading an article on the newspaper [NY times Post].
The photograph looked artistically very appealing to me, specially the color and their flows.
I was thinking to try a mixed media painting based on that satellite image.

So here is the screenshot of the newspaper article:

This is the one that I did (Acrylic/Jute twine on gessobord):

Green Sand Beach @ Big Islands, HI

This beach was spectacular. Specially the color of the sand was gorgeous.
The water was perfect. I swam with a sea turtle there.

So, I wanted to do a painting of that beach.
Here is the original one and the one I did (Oil on canvas).

Blue Canvas - I

I got really inspired by famous modern artist Joan Miró's style lately. So with that inspiration I wanted to put a social message on a blue canvas. I am now planning to do a series. Lets see :-)

First wood-burning project

This is the first tiny project. I tried to draw a butterfly on the 2-inch diameter wood log (Thanks to Sanchayita di :-) ).
It is little difficult to working against the wood grain. Need to carefully choose among those
tips. I also tried the basic shading.
[ Drawings with more straight lines might be easier to do. ]
Here is the picture below :

Texture (Trial run 1)

Acrylic on canvas

This is a new thing I am learning.
Using light Molding paste I created a rough texture on the canvas. I let it dry overnight.
Then I used acrylic to paint on that surface.

This is a very small canvas 6" x 8". I will do some bigger one later :)

Seine river (Oil on canvas)

This is on a relatively larger canvas - 20" x 24", inspired by Monet's works on Seine river :)
It was a really long project; I started the first coat probably in January, but could not motivate myself to do it further. Finally I tried last few weekends and kind of finished it :)

Niagara -- my view

Niagara Falls - One of the gigantic waterfalls that I have ever witnessed in my whole life.
It stands uniquely with its amazing beauty and grace and part of Niagara river that flows north from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario. Especially at night various colors from Canadian side are thrown into the water making it one of the prettiest site.

After coming back from my road trip I wanted to sketch some part of it. So here is the one (American falls inside Niagara Falls State Park) [Inspired by the state park information book cover]. I am planning a Niagara series with Watercolor/Oil when I will have more time :-)

I took one of my early paintings and put the other two objects (name and the girl) for the drama. I hope it served an appropriate title page for the drama. We performed it at Gaiesville Durga Puja on 15th Oct.

A hint of Cubism

Started and finished on this Friday (23rd Sep) night ( Thanks to Debu da for wonderful foods that kept me awake for another 3 hrs :P )
This color combination I saw somewhere in the net.
I kind of liked it and this is my first try with cubism concept :-) .
This is also Acrylic on Canvas. Acrylic dries so fast - I am really liking it !!!
This canvas is a stretched one and texture is far richer than the usual canvas panel.
I enjoyed coloring this stretched one more than those panels.
Here is the name for it - "Embraced" :-)
